Hi!

I’m Susan — gardener, guide, and founder of Gather and Ground.

I believe gardens are more than pretty spaces. They’re places where we can heal, reconnect, and belong to nature, to each other, and to ourselves.

My own path here wasn’t a direct one. For years, the garden was my refuge from loneliness, stress, and burnout. Hands in the soil gave me a way to slow down, breathe, and feel part of something bigger than myself. Over time, I realized that what grounded me could also support others.

That’s how Gather and Ground was born: to help people create gardens that nourish not only plants and pollinators, but also the people who tend them.

What I Do

I blend therapeutic horticulture with practical
garden consulting,
guiding you to:

  • Create edible gardens that bring fresh food to your table

  • Design pollinator-friendly spaces, including California native plants

  • Find more meaning and mindfulness through hands-on gardening activities

  • Connect your team, community, or family through garden workshops

Whether you want to grow your own vegetables, support the ecosystem, or simply find a calmer rhythm in the garden, I meet you where you are, and we grow from there.

What You’ll Find Here

Gather & Ground is for the curious gardener, the nature lover, and the urban dweller who craves more green. It’s for the organizations that want to build community, and for anyone ready to explore the garden as both a practical and therapeutic space.

This isn’t about having the perfect yard or keeping every plant alive (spoiler: no one does). It’s about creating spaces where beauty, balance, and belonging can take root.

Together, let’s turn your garden into a place that feeds your body, mind, and spirit — one small step at a time.
